My first job- Zerodha :)

The first job is always special, you enter into a new world, meet new people, learn discipline and start a new journey of your life.

Let me take you back to 2018, it was the year when I completed my graduation in a Bachelor's of Management Studies (BMS) with a specialisation in Marketing.

Right after my graduation, I started searching for jobs as I was the eldest kid plus there was a financial crisis.
I gave many interviews and I was just getting rejections.

I was stressed, helpless and felt like all the doors are closed for me but also somewhere I had hope that things will change and there were times I used to take money from my close friends to travel for the interview location.

One day I was just sitting at my home and I got a call from a job agency called "Local Fox", I am not able to recollect the name of the person.
She said we have a job opportunity for you and the company's name is "Zerodha" and it is a stockbroker, you have to help the clients to open the Demat account.

I said okay I'll give it a try and the job location was Goregaon (Mumbai).
One day before the interview I browsed the company's website and read the services they were providing and studied some basics of the stock market like what is Nifty or Sensex etc.

I went for the first round of interviews and it went well and then there was an assessment exam so I passed it and they said we will call you for the next round and it will be the final round and after a few days I got the call from the Bangalore head office and it was a telephonic interview and I think I gave it well.

HR said we will get back to you soon.
I thought I won't get selected because I had got such replies in the past many times so I had no expectations.

Surprisingly I got the call from HR and he said I was selected and asked me when can I join?
I guess it was Friday or Saturday so I said I can join from next week Monday onwards.
Finally, I got my first job and I joined on 17th September 2018.

For the first few months, I was on my training period.
I was learning more about the stock market, also my manager helped me a lot in the initial days with the training.

After completing the training I was live on calls as it was sales and customer support so I had to call the clients who had registered on the website/app.
I was probing and pitching them the right product to start their stock market journey.

Apart from the outbound calls, I was also handling the escalations, incoming calls, tickets and emails promptly.

I was a bit nervous at the start because I was an introvert and I still remember the name of my first client (Shahrukh Khan).

With my first job, many things had improved for me.

1. Family's financial condition.
2. My communication.
3. Active listening.
4. My Finance literacy.
5. Making connections.
6. Adapting and accepting the change.

And a lot more...

Now I think I should end this here or else the blog will become wordy and people won't read it lol.

See y'all in the next blog, Cheers!
